Council approves multiple procurement awards, several reappointments and denies Rodriguez claim

The police department will receive 29 long rifles paid through a Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) and procured from Atlantic Tactical for $36,540; councilors said the grant covered the purchase and that standardization and liability considerations supported the acquisition. The council voted to waive competitive bidding and accept the recommended vendor through the state procurement vehicle (Mass MPA).
The council approved a contract for a townwide inventory and asset audit with CliftonLarsonAllen LLP ‘‘not to exceed $50,000,’’ to be shared across the general fund, schools, water and sewer funds with the schools carrying the largest share of cost. Councilors said an up‑to‑date inventory will help maintain warranties and schedule repairs.
On administrative matters the council approved multiple reappointments and one appointment: Richard Andrews and Holly Patura were reappointed to the juvenile hearing board (terms to 2028); Michael Ricard and Kevin McPeek were reappointed to the housing authority; Kazim Ahermad and Frank Susano Jr. were reappointed as zoning board alternates; Valerie Vitale was reappointed to the zoning board; and Nick Joshi was appointed to the board of canvassers. During the consent agenda the council voted to deny the Rodriguez claim and send it to the trust.
