Council members outline petition drive to place measure on Homewood City ballot

Another council member said the group reserved a tent at the We Love Homewood Day festival to gather signatures and emphasized outreach to younger residents. "We Love Homewood Day will be pretty heavy, just homely folk," the committee member said, noting the event should produce many local signatures.
Council members repeatedly clarified the petition's purpose. "It just means allow them to be on the ballot," a committee member said, adding the petition does not itself represent the council's endorsement of the measure. Another participant described conversations with people who could not vote in 2020 but said they would support the measure now.
The Chair thanked those involved and said the item will be carried over for additional information at a future meeting, providing staff and council time to continue outreach and prepare any formal materials.
