Homewood council approves budget amendments, Fire Station 3 agreement and several routine measures

The Homewood City Council cleared a slate of committee-recommended measures and administrative items during its April 8 meeting.
Budget and capital projects: The finance committee reported a 3-0 recommendation to approve FY23-24 budget amendments brought by Deputy Chief Broadhead and JJ Bischoff; the council adopted the amendments unanimously (recorded as Resolution 24-38). The council also approved authorization for the mayor to sign an agreement for an addition at Fire Station 3 after a 3-0 finance recommendation; that item was recorded as Resolution 24-39.
Traffic and public-safety measures: The council approved an ordinance to further regulate parking along a portion of 28th Avenue South (near 1665 28th Avenue South) and authorized the chief of police to install markings; the measure was passed unanimously and recorded as Ordinance 28-94.
Arts and vouchers: The council approved a Special Arts Council request for permission to work in the right-of-way (Resolution 24-40) and approved vouchers for the period March 12 through April 8, 2024 (Resolution 24-42). It also approved changes to bank signatures to reflect recent retirements (Resolution 24-43).
Committee notes and logistics: Several board-vacancy interviews were scheduled, and the council appointed Ron McCurdy to the Ward 1 Beautification Board. The council also set public hearings for upcoming development items, including a Sanford University development-plan amendment and a Bank of America branch.
