Resident tells Goldendale council mobile homes above Chambers Road lack utilities and hurt property values

Frank Rush identified himself during open public comment and described conditions on a parcel above Chambers Road where several mobile homes and makeshift dwellings have appeared in the last five years. “People are living in mobile homes and makeshift kind of places, and most of them don't have any kind of safety tanks or water or electricity,” Rush said, adding that the change has depressed his property value.
Rush asked the council what enforcement or agency could address the situation. City staff replied that Chambers Road lies outside the city limits and is a county matter, but offered to connect Rush with appropriate county contacts and to have staff follow up. The presiding officer said staff would attempt to provide contact information and assistance.
The council did not take formal action on the matter during the meeting; staff indicated they would help the resident find the appropriate county resources for further action.
