Ginnie Mae announced that issuers will have a much longer window to retrieve RFS e-notifications tied to loan-matching activity. Paul St. Laurent, a Ginnie Mae official, said, "It used to be 30 days, and it's gonna be pushed out to 10 months."
St. Laurent described e-notifications as scripted messages that flag loans Ginnie Mae wants issuers to review, starting as reminders and escalating if follow-up is needed. He urged issuers not to transmit supporting documents by email and to submit evidence through Ginnie Mae’s designated channels. "If Ginnie Mae requests them, send them only to Ginnie Mae," he said.
Ginnie Mae staff said the longer access period should help issuers respond to notices and assist field review contractors who test unmatched loans underlying those e-notifications. The change is framed as an operational improvement to reduce unnecessary escalations and to give issuers more time to provide required documentation.
During the call, staff answered related questions about finding Ginnie Mae loan numbers in exported XML files after initial certification and directed issuers with outstanding format or transfer questions to their support contacts for one-on-one follow-up.
The outreach session concluded with staff advising issuers to subscribe at ginnymemae.gov for updates and to route unresolved technical questions through the customer service desk.
