Lincoln council approves contracts for senior-center HVAC, fireworks, police equipment and system upgrades

The purchasing committee recommended awarding Automatic Temperature Controls Inc. $23,868 for ductless mini-split units for the senior center, citing localized HVAC shortfalls in some rooms. The committee also recommended purchasing Memorial Day fireworks from Central Maine Pyrotechnics for $16,500 (DPW and Parks & Recreation fund). The committee recommended Atlantic Tactical for seven police rifles (a trade-in arrangement producing a net expenditure of $8,430.80), and Northeast MDT for four patrol-vehicle modems ($11,007.94) through a Sourcewell contract; the meeting record notes the modem purchase is funded with HIDA forfeiture funds, so there is no net impact to general fund tax dollars. Finally, the committee recommended awarding Veolia $26,450 for SCADA electrical troubleshooting to address electrical issues at several sewer pump stations; the cost is charged to the sewer fund (users pay).
Committee members and staff stressed these awards were recommended through existing cooperative purchasing agreements or contract extensions in order to meet operational needs. “We do plan to meet with the departments to review... procedures,” the committee said during the report, and the town administrator noted the fireworks vendor had provided strong performances in recent years.
All five committee recommendations were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote during the meeting.
