The Lincoln Town Council handled a range of routine and procedural items Tuesday, approving a church fundraising event permit, continuing a compliance hearing for a coffee business, approving several appointments and reappointments, and adopting a resolution canceling certain uncollectible taxes.
Christchurch representative Asher Monto described a one-evening Valentine’s Day wine-tasting fundraiser to support the church food pantry and thrift shop and said Lincoln Liquors will donate wine; the council granted a special-event Class F permit for Feb. 14 and waived the permit fee. Monto estimated the event would raise about $2,000 and said ticketing would be handled through Lincoln Liquors.
At a show-cause hearing for We Roast Coffee Company, the owner said taxes had been paid but the town had not yet received the state’s letter of good standing. Councilors agreed to continue the matter to the next meeting and said the license-holder would not need to attend if the required paperwork arrives with the town clerk before that meeting.
On the consent agenda, the council approved minutes, monthly bills, committee referrals and denied a listed Chartier claim, sending it to the trust. The council also considered and approved several appointments and reappointments to boards and commissions, including personnel, planning and tree warden posts; a number of appointment items were deferred for later interviews.
The council introduced and adopted Resolution 02/2001 to cancel certain uncollectible mobile-home taxes; the clerk reported the line item amount on the record as “1287¢.” Councilors also adjusted their February scheduling, setting a work session for Feb. 9 and the regular meeting for Feb. 10 to avoid the Presidents' Day holiday.
Public comment included praise for town staff’s snow-clearing work, a request for stepped-up enforcement of roadside parking bans during winter, and praise for the new Lonsdale school gym and STEM facilities following a recent grand opening.
The meeting adjourned after a final motion by voice vote.
