Council approves FY 2026–27 CDBG action plan; CAC recommends $802,000 estimate allocation

Sydney Aller, the city’s HUD program coordinator, presented the draft FY 2026–27 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) one-year action plan and funding priorities recommended by the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC).
“All funding is allocated to projects that meet HUD’s national objectives: benefit to low‑ and moderate‑income persons, elimination of slums and blight, or urgent needs,” Aller said, and noted the city is estimating an entitlement of $802,000 based on the prior year.
The CAC recommended designating $120,000 for public services (nonprofit partners and interagency programs) and $532,000 for capital projects, including mobile home repair ($200,000), senior center acoustic ceiling replacement ($80,000), senior center masonry work ($70,000) and Shaner Towers community-room upgrades ($60,000). Aller also described smaller public‑service outcomes from prior years—assistance for seniors, forensic interviews for children and internet access programs.
Councilmember Radke moved to approve the FY 2026–27 CDBG one‑year action plan as recommended and to authorize city administration to submit the federal application and secure the funds. The motion was moved, supported and carried by voice vote.
