Danville commission approves workers' comp, liability and property renewals; premiums rise modestly

Randy Boyd (speaker 9) told the commission that the FY26 workers' compensation premium is $241,064.81, an increase of about $17,000 over the prior year, and noted that the city's experience modification is 1.0, indicating claims are in line with payroll. "That means while staffing and payroll and labor has gone up, our claims are trending downward," Boyd said.
Miss Compton (speaker 6) then summarized liability coverage for city properties and employees with a total premium of $435,764.17 and noted a property insurance renewal with premium $268,849.05. She attributed modest increases to additional vehicles and general insurance-cost inflation and said the city pays premiums quarterly rather than in a single lump sum.
Each renewal was moved, seconded and carried by the commission. Commissioners asked no substantive questions beyond routine clarifications about cost drivers.
