Paris council denies Encore Electric rate increase request pending study

The Paris City Council on May 11 adopted a resolution denying Encore Electric Delivery Companies LLC’s request to amend its distribution cost recovery factor and increase distribution rates within the city, council members said.
Jean Anderson, speaking for staff, said Encore requested the rate adjustment in early April and that the company has made similar requests previously. Staff recommended denying the increase at this time to allow time to study whether the higher rates are justified and to return to the council with findings.
The mayor moved to adopt the resolution denying the requested rate increase; the motion was seconded and the council recorded the measure as denied.
The denial preserves the city's current distribution rates while staff conducts a review to determine whether Encore’s proposed adjustment should be adopted later, and whether any city action is warranted based on that review.
