Miss Easton, speaking for city staff, said the change order would roll three projects into the ongoing Church Street contract to avoid remobilizing a contractor. "The first is Washington Street... the second is the parking lot at the corner of Church and Kaufman... and then the third is a Hubbard Street project," she said, and added that rolling the work in provided better pricing and efficiency. She identified estimated amounts of roughly $65,000 for Washington Street and about $17,060 for the parking lot and said the Hubbard work required adding to an existing contract rather than competitively bidding it.
Council members asked whether available bond funds and the street fund would cover the work; Miss Easton said the Washington Street work would use funds already set aside in the street bond and that the Hubbard work would come from set-aside street maintenance funds. She also said contingency built into the Church Street project would not be exceeded by adding the work.
The chair moved to authorize the change order in the amount of $136,294.65 and a 57-day extension to the contract; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
