Town board authorizes up to $40,000 to upgrade power at Town Commons

"This is to actually make the area next to the town more usable for functions that we all have a future desire to use it for — concerts, events," a council member said during discussion. "This upgrade is to prepare for the future." The board voted on the motion by roll call and recorded unanimous approval.
The motion specifies that parks trust and agency funds will be used unless other outside funding becomes available. Board materials listed the bid and National Grid's statement that any higher cost would not exceed $10,000. The authorization does not commit the board to funding beyond the $40,000 cap approved this evening.
The board did not detail a construction timeline beyond noting potential lead times; staff indicated further planning and procurement will follow the authorization.
