Board approves minutes, awards pavement-marking contract and OKs Pembroke final payment; votes to enter closed session

The Board of Public Works handled several routine items and took votes on contracting and a closed-session motion.

Minutes: A committee member moved to approve the minutes of the Feb. 24 meeting; the motion was seconded and the board recorded affirmative votes.

Pavement marking: Chair opened bids for the 26 pavement-marking project. Brickline bid $110,364.05 and Century Traffic bid $131,264.09. The Chair moved to approve awarding the contract to Brickline; a committee member seconded and members voted in favor, approving Brickline as the contractor for the pavement-marking work.

Sidewalk final payment: Returning to Item C, the Chair identified Pembroke Company for final payment on the '25 sidewalk repair project B.' A staff member said, "This was our CDBG funded project. We checked with the, community development and all paperwork checks out." A staff member recommended final payment; the board approved a final payment in the amount of $47,298.65.

Closed session: The Chair moved to go into closed session pursuant to Wisconsin statute 19.85(1)(e) to consider prequalification statements for the Cracker Street lift station replacement and pursuant to Wisconsin statute 19.85(1)(g) to deliberate on claims. A committee member seconded and the motion to enter closed session was approved.

What this means: Several procurement and contract-administration steps were completed; the board also moved to confidential deliberations to address prequalification statements and claims related to public-works projects.
