Simsbury committee finalizes logistics for May 2 sustainability fair

Organizers discussed modest event costs: a $26 expense was mentioned for signs and a banner, and the committee agreed to cover small items and continue to explore funding or honoraria for special participants. Members also discussed possible tours of Murphy Road Recycling on Saturdays following the fair to give residents a behind-the-scenes look at local recycling operations.
The committee encouraged members to sign up as volunteers for the fair and will continue logistical planning at its next meeting. The chair said the newsletter for an energy-efficiency campaign is ready pending town approval of a contract with New England Smart Energy, and that the town manager will review budget language before distribution.
