The Case IH entry listed a purchase price of $72,001.86 with a $4,000 trade-difference; Titan’s bid presented a $59,400 machine with a $65,000 trade-in credit; the Cat bid showed a new machine at $67,230 with a $45,500 trade allowance. A York Equipment representative (Steve Earl) described the proposed unit as a direct replacement and offered to transfer a polycarbonate door from the current machine.
Highway Superintendent Harv advised selecting the York Equipment bid despite some loss of book value on trade, arguing local dealer proximity would preserve service, parts access and future trade value. "Our money stays in town," he said, recommending York Equipment based on local service and trade considerations.
A motion to accept the superintendent’s recommendation passed on roll call with several dissenting votes recorded. The board instructed staff to complete purchase documents and to have the vendor provide sales order and delivery schedule details.
