Council also approved a motion establishing evidence of long-term municipal support and appointing the library board roster as presented. Council members agreed the board and the director can sign necessary MOAs and proceed with implementation steps.
Separately, the council approved a contingency motion: if the library cannot raise approximately $1,000 for an integrated library system (ILS) through fundraising, the city will cover that $1,000. The council emphasized fundraising and grant-seeking first, with the city as a fallback to ensure the library can secure certification and modern patron services.
Library staff outlined additional programs (story hour, swap-meet fundraising) and a plan to use any event proceeds for programming and equipment. Council members encouraged continued grant-seeking for larger purchases and supported the director's plan to accelerate certification and online services.
