Commissioners appoint special prosecutor for conflict cases; county attorney honored for open government

After discussion the motion to sign the resolution passed by voice vote.
Also at the meeting representatives of the Newsletter Journal and the Wyoming Press Association presented the Benjamin Franklin Award for Open Government to County Attorney Michael Stolkin. The award citation noted that Stolkin began proactively notifying local media of felony convictions and supplying public documents to aid accurate reporting.
"He has made a deliberate effort to ensure felony convictions and the facts behind them are communicated clearly and properly," the Newsletter Journal representative said during the presentation. Commissioners congratulated the county attorney for the recognition and noted the value of proactive information sharing for public confidence in the justice system.
