Chair (Speaker 1) announced that the city council had extended one commissioner’s term and reminded members that two other terms expire March 1. "The council did extend Dale's term for 3 years. So you're good till 03/01/2028," the chair said, and asked commissioners whose terms expire March 1, 2026 to notify staff if they wish to be reappointed. The commission also agreed to hold its chair and vice-chair elections in January and to keep election terms on the calendar year.
Commissioners spent significant time working through edits to the October and November minutes. A reviewer (Speaker 2) read suggested wording fixes — for example, changing ambiguous words ("should" to "shared"), adding the word "risk" after mentions of fire to clarify "fire risk," correcting acronyms (agricultural protection area — "APA") and fixing numeric text — and offered to send the revisions to the clerk. After those edits, a motion was made and seconded to adopt the October minutes as amended; the chair called the vote and the motion passed unanimously. The commission later adopted the November minutes as amended with clarified motion language.
During the November-minute discussion commissioners reworked the motion text to "continue" the Evan Glassman subdivision application (SUB...) so that Mr. Glassman would return with the requested materials. The revised motion as read at the meeting continued the application to the Dec. 11 planning commission meeting and required submission of additional research, documentation of steps taken during the prior six months, and a slope analysis/overlay to address review requests.
The commission did not vote on ordinance language at the meeting; the procedural votes recorded were limited to adoption of minutes. The chair and staff confirmed the planning commission’s next scheduled meeting on Jan. 8, when the forestry-zone edits and administrative-powers chapter will be on the agenda.
What was not decided: the commission did not adopt final ordinance text for forestry zones (that item was sent back to staff for redrafting) and no final appointment votes were recorded during this meeting — the chair asked members to indicate whether they wish to remain for the upcoming term.
