The Imperial City Council authorized staff on March 4 to issue Request for Proposals (RFP) #202601 to solicit professional city attorney services.
Human Resources Director Kristen Smith told the council the RFP aims to identify a firm or individual with municipal expertise to support the city’s legal needs. Smith said the city planned to release the RFP March 5, set a submission deadline of March 19, conduct interviews in late March or early April, and return to council with a recommendation on April 15, with a target contract start date of May 1.
Council approved issuing the solicitation on a 4–0 vote and members expressed support for the two‑week proposal period. Smith said the process is intended to ensure the city maintains high‑quality, cost‑effective legal services and to allow the council to review interviews and a staff recommendation before contract execution.
The council did not take a final selection action at the meeting; staff will return with a recommendation in April.
