Vice President Ken Horstman briefed the special committee that the university has opened negotiations with Teamsters and AFSCME and has conducted multiple bargaining sessions.
"We have had 1 session with AFSCME. We have had 2 with Teamsters and another 1 scheduled here shortly," Horstman said. He added that the administration and unions are still finalizing the categorization for about 37 fellows connected to the medical‑resident organizing effort and that both sides have been instructed to agree on the member list.
Horstman said the administration hopes to have a substantive update soon once the parties reach agreement on categorizations and member lists. No bargaining outcomes were reported during the meeting.
