The Davis County Commission opened its March 3 meeting by recognizing dozens of county employees for milestone service anniversaries, including five-, 10-, 15-, 20- and 25-year milestones.
Lorraine Kamalu, introducing the recognitions, said the awards honored county workers "who are the best of the best working and serving here in Davis County." Supervisors and division leaders described honorees' roles and contributions: Jay Clark of the health department praised Marva Knutson for meticulous data entry and customer service, while Rochelle Blackham highlighted Cheryl Knight's long-term commitment to aging-services case management. Sergeant Nicholas and Sergeant Scow offered remarks about deputies Daniel Jacquez and Greg Spring, who were celebrated for long service in the sheriff's office.
The ceremony named specific honorees including Andrea Osiek, Joe O'Donnell, Jonathan Black, Daniel Jacquez, Greg Spring, Robin Gruber, Nathan Lyon, Derek Schmel, Marva Knutson, Cheryl Knight, Melinda Anderson, Derek Christiansen, Ernest Clausen and Stanton Nielsen. Commissioners and presenters urged attendees to thank the honorees for their service.
The recognitions took place near the start of the public meeting and were followed by the commission's regular consent and business items.
