Hanover Park proclaims March 2026 as 'Kids at Hope' month, schedules March 14 community event

Village President Rodney S. Craig proclaimed March 2026 as "Kids at Hope" Month in Hanover Park and invited residents to a community event on March 14 that he said will involve more than 55 agencies, schools and community partners. Craig read the proclamation at the start of the trustees meeting and posed for a group photo with event organizers.
"Kids at Hope is a national initiative committed to the success of all children without exception," Craig said while presenting the proclamation, describing the program as a research‑based framework that encourages adults to build meaningful, sustainable relationships that help children set and reach future goals in home, family, education and career.
Clerk Christie Calderon reminded the board about the event and asked trustees and residents to attend between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.; she also said the Park District and local schools will participate and noted logistical support from District 54. Craig thanked local veterans and service organizations who will help with activities and refreshments and said the Lions Club will assist with refreshments this year.
The proclamation aims to promote ongoing opportunities for youth engagement, Craig said, and to reduce stigma and low expectations that can hold children back. Organizers plan vendor booths, activities and opportunities for families to learn about services available through the summer.
The board conducted a short photo opportunity after the proclamation; no vote was required for the proclamation itself.
