At the public-comment portion of the Jan. 14 meeting, teacher Holly Shogren and volunteer Gracie Bowen presented the districtservice-pup program in partnership with Guide Dogs of America/Tender Loving Canines. Shogren introduced current puppies-in-training assigned to several schools and reported that five dogs have graduated while two are in formal training.
Gracie Bowen read administrator comments highlighting the programpositive impact on studentssocial-emotional learning, staff morale and community engagement. Trustees thanked the volunteers and families who foster and raise puppies and invited them to remain for photos after the meeting.
