The Ocean View Board of Trustees adopted a proposed addition to Board Policy Series 5000 (BP 5131, personal mobile communication devices) on third reading, voting 5-0 to approve the policy with the option to return for amendments later.
The board also approved a range of consent and action items by voice vote, including administrative services purchase orders (M3) — which had been pulled for separate consideration — a contract change order and a notice of completion for Spec Construction Company Inc., consolidated application submissions for categorical funding, single plans for student achievement (SPSA), an independent-contractor amendment for Kicks to Learn (lunch and recess support), and approved overnight field-trip locations for College View, Oak View and Westmont.
One vote of note: the board recorded a 4-0-1 result on the M3 purchase-orders item after the clerk disclosed a shared easement with the Mesa View modernization project and abstained. The board noted conflicts or abstentions on the public record when appropriate.
What happens next: Several operational items will proceed to implementation (construction closeout, contractor services, program amendments). The board said it retains the option to revisit BP 5131 in future meetings.
