The committee moved to recommend awarding the contract to Hamilton Construction in a not‑to‑exceed amount of $666,165.90; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. Staff advised that the contractor will sample excavated material and that disposal costs vary depending on whether material is contaminated; the bid included contingency for differing disposal outcomes.
The committee also recommended approving construction‑management, inspection and sampling services from KPFF and Anchor QEA in an amount not to exceed $144,407. Manager Dietz said task 1 is a lump sum and the remainder is hourly; staff expect to spend less than the full amount if work proceeds smoothly but will return to the assembly for additional funds if unexpected complications arise.
The committee’s recommendations will be forwarded to the assembly for formal award and authorization.
