Committee backs three-year audit proposal with BDO covering fiscal years 2024–2026

The Skagway Finance Committee on Jan. 15 recommended the Municipal Assembly approve a three-year audit services proposal from BDO covering fiscal years 2024–2026, including additional funding to cover required compliance reporting for state and federal grant programs.
Manager Deitch and treasurer Heather (memo referenced) explained that annual audits are required by municipal code and that audit costs are distributed across departments. The proposal presented tiered not-to-exceed amounts: $150,000 for 2024, $160,000 for 2025 and $185,000 for 2026 to cover base audit work plus additional grant reporting.
Alex moved that the committee recommend the three-year engagement; Potter seconded. Committee members noted staff could run an RFP after the term if they wish to solicit other firms, but the treasurer preferred continuity. The committee voted to forward the recommendation to the assembly for final approval and future budget commitment.
