Assemblymember Hansen, who participated in Southeast Conference discussions and consultations with federal officials, said the assembly should seek inclusion in the rulemaking and avoid broad top-down decisions that omit local concerns.
The assembly approved the substituted language and asked staff to transmit the draft comments to federal reviewers, noting tourism, forest management and economic considerations in Southeast Alaska.
