Cape Coral Youth Council readies April quarterly report, awards voting and senior-project outreach

At its March 6 meeting the Cape Coral Youth Council reviewed and updated materials for its final quarterly report (due March 23 for staff compilation) and confirmed plans for the April 1 presentation in council chambers.
Members were told the awards committee had received 23 applications—far more than last year—and Miss Griglin explained the voting will be done via a Google Docs link staff will distribute; responses are due by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 20. Miss Griglin described a simple ballot format with categories and applicant links so members can review letters of recommendation and backup material before casting votes.
The council also debriefed recent projects: Member Sanchez reported the junior-project movie-in-the-park sold “over a 100 tickets” and collected positive feedback for future fairs and movie nights. The Chair noted the council collected dozens of toys for a local drive (an approximate, informal total near 200) and congratulated the group on a nomination for a county beautification award for their Adopt-a-Road work.
Staff briefed members on the Lovelock project, which remains in the public-works queue awaiting concrete work and permit clearances; no new timeline was available and staff said they would contact past members for a ribbon-cutting when the project is ready.
The council approved the April 10 meeting agenda and adjourned. Members were reminded to send senior reflections and photos for the April quarterly report.
