The Monrovia Unified School District Board on Sept. 11 approved a slate of routine and governance items. Key outcomes:
- Bylaws: The board adopted Board Bylaw 9220 (governing board elections) and Board Bylaw 9223 (filling vacancies). Both were presented as recommended by the California School Boards Association and passed on recorded roll‑call votes (4–0; Vice President Hammond was excused).
- Resolutions: The board adopted Resolution 2425‑06 (declaring September 2024 Attendance Awareness Month), Resolution 2425‑07 (declaring September 2024 Suicide Prevention Awareness Month), and Resolution 2425‑08 (proclaiming Sept. 15–Oct. 15, 2024 as Hispanic Heritage Month). Each resolution was approved unanimously on the night’s roll call.
- Agreements and trips: The board approved an overnight field trip for the Monrovia High cross‑country team (Clovis Invitational, Oct. 10–11, 2024) and an agreement with Oregon State University to host supervised counseling experiences (effective on signature through 06/30/2030). The board also ratified a one‑year legal services agreement with attorney Jeff Martirosian (09/01/2024–08/30/2025). All votes were 4–0.
The meeting’s formal roll calls and vote tallies were read aloud by the board clerk; no votes failed and no items were tabled. Several routine consent items were approved together prior to the action items listed above.
