Summary
The board approved JROTC and music-group overnight trips, accepted a $250 donation to athletics from Kappa Alpha Psi Dayton Alumni Chapter, and instructed staff to review the district’s facilities-use fee schedule and insurance requirements.
At the March 5 work session the Trotwood-Madison City School District board approved multiple overnight field trips, accepted a small donation for athletics and discussed a planned review of facility-rental fees.
Superintendent Mister Howard asked the board to approve a Junior ROTC overnight trip to Columbus (May 21–24, 2026) and a separate JROTC overnight trip; he said Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Graves would supervise the small groups of students. Howard also requested approval for a high-school band overnight trip to Detroit and Sandusky (May 23–25, 2026) and an overnight Trotwood Singers trip to Tiffin, Ohio (March 27–28, 2026). Each request was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
Howard recommended the board accept a $250 donation to the athletic department from Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Dayton Alumni Chapter; the board approved the donation by roll call.
On facilities use, Howard reviewed the board-approved policy that divides renters into categories 1–4 with corresponding rates and said outside renters must carry $1,000,000 in liability insurance unless they are a school organization. He said staff will collect comparables from about a dozen nearby districts and return with a proposed revised fee schedule for board consideration.
Votes at the meeting: motions to approve the agenda items and donations were recorded by roll call and passed; field-trip attachments include supervision details and chaperone lists in the submitted letters.
What’s next: Staff will return with a draft fee schedule and the district will bring missing monthly financial reports to a future board meeting.
