Monrovia Unified trustees approve staffing MOU, off‑site backups and a string of resolutions

The Monrovia Unified School District Board of Education on Wednesday approved a series of routine and policy items, including a memorandum of understanding permitting the district to use Boys & Girls Club staff to supplement the Village after‑school program in staffing shortfalls, a three‑year off‑site data backup contract, and multiple resolutions recognizing classified employees, mental health awareness and Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
The board also approved a CIF multischool agreement allowing Mountain Park students to participate on Monrovia High athletic teams and adopted the declaration of need for fully qualified educators for the 2025–26 school year. All recorded motions on the consent and action calendars passed unanimously (5‑0).
Staff provided an update on the district’s Measure/bond work: the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee scheduled its annual report for Aug. 13 and will next meet on June 16. Staff said the district’s designer, Little Diversified, will provide initial options for Monrovia High’s aquatic facility as part of an early design stage; those options are not final designs and any decisions about funding or a joint‑use agreement with the city will be discussed in later agenda items.
On technology, the board approved an agreement to expand off‑site backup using Rubrik Cloud Vault for three years; IT staff explained Rubrik uses major cloud infrastructure (Amazon Web Services) for off‑site storage and that the district’s implementation will remain COPPA/FERPA compliant.
