Diamond Lake SD 76 board approves shared safety services agreement and routine agenda items

S1 (Chair) said the Diamond Lake School District 76 Board of Education approved several routine agenda items and a proposed intergovernmental agreement to share a safety and security coordinator with District 79 (Fremont).

The action came as part of the board’s business agenda, which the chair described as an omnibus vote for routine items followed by separate approval of personnel items and the intergovernmental agreement. The omnibus agenda items (a–c) were approved by motion; the board also approved two personnel resignations and the 2026 intergovernmental agreement for shared safety and security services as presented.

Why it matters: Board members were told the shared position would split time approximately 50/50 between the two districts and that district attorneys reviewed the draft agreement and provided recommendations. Board members said the shared-service model would allow the districts to jointly recruit and interview for the role while posting the position as a Diamond Lake 76 employee.

S4 (Staff member) told the board attorneys had reviewed the intergovernmental agreement and that the districts planned a collaborative interview process. "We feel really good about the opportunity to have a shared service model ... where we are going to be able to have this individual here 50% of the time and 50% of the time in Fremont 79," S4 said.
