The City of Cape Canaveral Planning & Zoning Board on April 2 recommended approval of a site plan for a hotel and restaurant proposed on a 5.75-acre project area at 55 Columbia Road, north of Port Canaveral.
Connor, community and economic development staff, told the board the project calls for a 156-room hotel (the city’s code sets a 150-room minimum for hotels in the relevant district). Staff said the Community Appearance Board had approved the design unanimously and granted an increased building height to 65 feet to permit a six-story configuration. Staff recommended the Planning & Zoning Board approve the site plan with two primary conditions: written Port Canaveral staff approval of a southbound right-turn lane into the development before a building permit is issued, and completion of a sewer line extension agreement (including any necessary easement conveyance) that must later be approved by the City Council.
