DNR: $20 million PFAS settlement grant now open; commission alerted to upcoming river basin meetings

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources staff told the Great River Road Parkway Commission that a $20 million grant opportunity arising from a PFAS settlement is now available and open for application.
"That's, there's a it's $20,000,000 that's available as part of that settlement," Grant Wilson said, noting the funds are intended for restoration and recreation projects and that DNR and the Pollution Control Agency are acting as administrators for the program. Wilson said eligible applicants include local units of government, nonprofits, watershed districts, federal and state agencies, tribes and schools.
Wilson also flagged two upcoming meetings of interest to river stakeholders: the Upper Mississippi River Basin Association quarterly meeting (online, Feb. 25) and the Upper Mississippi River Conservation Committee's 80th annual meeting in La Crosse in March. He encouraged staff and partners to register for or follow those meetings, which will discuss conservation and river corridor investment priorities.
Commissioners thanked DNR for the update and asked staff to circulate meeting and application links in the meeting notes. The commission did not take any funding actions at the session because several appointments to the commission roster remain pending and staff advised waiting on substantive action until full appointment.
