John Nicholson (speaker 2) addressed the board during public comment, urging consideration of a 10-day Biketoberfest to attract vendors and greater economic activity. “If we extend it to 10 days, the vendors will come,” Nicholson said, arguing a longer event would draw more entertainment and visitors and increase vendor participation.
Nicholson also criticized recent affordable-housing outcomes, saying the Clyde Morris Landing development operates as HUD housing and has produced problems he believes were not anticipated. He said police and eviction activity have been frequent at that property and urged the board and city to review affordable-housing rules to ensure projects serve employed local workers when appropriate.
Board members and staff discussed next steps: they asked speakers to supply ideas by email, considered targeted outreach (utility-bill mailings and listening sessions) to gather resident input, and agreed to schedule a workshop after November to compile 2–5 focused goals for 2026 — suggestions included LPGA Boulevard beautification and increased Beachside investment. Jeff (speaker 7) said staff will compile submissions and present preliminary goals for the November meeting and aim to finalize recommendations in December.
Procedural items from the meeting included approval of the minutes by voice vote early in the session; no recorded opposition was entered. The chair adjourned the meeting and reminded members the next scheduled meeting is Nov. 19.
