Director Thorn gave the board several operational updates and outreach plans during the meeting.
Thorn said CAT Reimagined information meetings have been held over the last weeks, including two sessions at the O'Connor Center, with scheduled outreach at Knoxville Station on Tuesday, July 30, a session Aug. 2 between noon and 2 p.m., and another on Aug. 5 at the Larry Cox Senior Center from 4 to 6 p.m. He encouraged customers to attend and learn about the project.
Thorn also announced that CAT will be fare-free on election day, Aug. 1, to encourage voting, and that the University of Tennessee, Knoxville has partnered with CAT to allow UTK students, faculty and staff to ride CAT buses beginning Aug. 12.
On board business, a committee member moved to approve the minutes and another member seconded; the Chair declared the minutes approved. Later, the board addressed a resolution to approve the CAC next service; a committee member moved, a member seconded, and the Chair stated, "the motion carries." The transcript contains brief discussion among members about whether five or six votes were recorded, and staff later summarized that the motion carries; the transcript does not provide a clear, roll-call tally.
What’s next: No implementation details or timelines for the CAC resolution are recorded in the transcript; staff indicated there is no new or old business beyond those items and the meeting was adjourned until next month.
