The Knoxville Transportation Authority opened its September meeting with a remembrance of Commissioner Christy Kirk, who died Sept. 10 just days before her 50th birthday.
The acting chair recounted Kirk’s two decades of work with Project GRAD and multiple community boards, and noted she served as a commissioner for about three years and was chair this year. Commissioners and staff described Kirk as an "unwavering advocate" for public transit and a committed volunteer. The board observed a moment of silence.
The chair invited any additional brief remarks from commissioners and staff and then moved to the business of the meeting.
