Principal Industries founder Brian Vincent told the San Angelo panel that AI-driven automation, manufacturable custom designs and sustainability measures such as plastic regrind are central to the company’s strategy and service model.
Brian Vincent, founder and CEO of Principal Industries, described how the LED and brand-imaging business evolved from high-priced linear lighting into scalable, manufacturable solutions that integrate building-level branding, diagnostics and IoT tools.
Vincent said the company’s competitive advantage combines product innovation, a service-oriented culture and exclusive distribution relationships. He stressed that rapid prototyping and willingness to do “value-added assembly” helped Principal compete as the industry commoditized.
On technology, Vincent emphasized artificial intelligence as a business imperative: “If you do not have an AI strategy now, you're gonna be a dinosaur in 24 months to 36 months,” he said, describing AI use cases from code translation to automating purchase-order processing.
Vincent also described sustainability measures with demonstrable returns—regrinding and reusing overmolded plastics that paid for a machine in about 30 days—and said national customers increasingly require sustainability plans. He noted a product and software pathway for certifying signs to meet dark-skies requirements.
He highlighted service innovations such as diagnostics that flag when signage or building illumination is out, reducing costly site visits and helping national retailers keep consistent brand presentation.
Vincent framed the company’s culture, customer focus and agility as its core strengths, and said San Angelo’s talent pool and entrepreneurial climate make the city well positioned to benefit from broader state growth trends.
