The council approved a resolution to increase the city contract for Film Las Cruces by $10,000 for the final year of the agreement, raising the annual not‑to‑exceed total from $95,000 to $105,000 through June 30, 2026.
Alicia Hernandez, purchasing manager, said the additional funds could support a marketing campaign including up to $8,000 for advertising with MovieMaker magazine and up to $2,000 for participation at the American Film Market in Los Angeles. "Currently Film Las Cruces is the only firm dedicated to the development and growth of the film industry specific to Las Cruces and the surrounding area," Hernandez said.
Andrew Hadda of Film Las Cruces told the council the office has had productions in town every month for about the last year, has three productions currently active, and uses location packages and outreach to bring producers to Las Cruces. Councilors asked about expected return on investment and outreach strategy; Hadda said the target audience includes producers and decision‑makers in Los Angeles and beyond and described both individual and group meetings to recruit productions.
Councilors voted to approve the amendment. The resolution cited a prior sole‑source determination and an existing contract (Contract 23-24-098) executed June 27, 2024.
