Kenilworth to post legal notices online; administrators highlight grants and community events

The borough administrator told the council the municipality is preparing for a statewide change in how legal notices are published. Administrators also reported grant activity. The borough has submitted a LEAP grant application related to the sewer/jetter truck purchase and filed a grant application for Keep America Beautiful’s cigarette-litter prevention and recycling program; if awarded, that funding would allow installation of cigarette receptacles and relaunch litter-reduction initiatives along the borough business corridor.
Council also observed community items: the finance office noted tax-relief 'blue books' are available and that the Cranford Regional Information Center offers free filing help. The council read a proclamation declaring March 2026 as Women's History Month and Councilwoman Giordano Picerno highlighted library programs, senior-center events, and student achievements including a new scholarship website and the Seal of Biliteracy exam for seniors.
The borough administrator reminded candidates that petition filing for the June primary is due March 23 at 4 p.m. and noted the next regular council meeting was rescheduled. Staff thanked DPW and police for assistance that day in relocating firefighters.
