Anna Peyton, administrator of Rural County Animal Protection Services, told the Public Health & Safety Committee she is awaiting GIS mapping and additional examples from the National Animal Care and Control Association and will return with more information. Peyton said the building’s plumbing and HVAC were not configured to house animals and cautioned against repeated short-term fixes without a longer-term plan.
Committee members suggested Peyton either seek a small local contractor to install a fresh-air intake and bring a resolution to the committee if county funding would be necessary, or otherwise fund the work from the organization’s budget. Peyton said she would consult facilities staff and follow up via email and at the next meeting.
