During the public‑comment portion of the March 5 meeting a resident identified as Tracy asked the planning commission and staff to place a 180‑day countywide moratorium on solar farms and data centers "to avoid further exposure" in both zoned and unzoned areas.
The chair and staff replied that such a moratorium would be a matter for the Baldwin County Commission rather than the planning commission, and that any legal and policy review would fall to the county commission. The resident said she had not yet petitioned the county commission and asked the planning commission to consider forwarding a recommendation.
The request was recorded as public comment and no formal action or referral was taken by the planning commission at the March 5 meeting.
