Following an executive performance review conducted by an external consultant, commissioners discussed County Administrator Gary Schmidt’s performance and compensation on March 3.

Chair Roberts read a summary paragraph from the outside review characterizing Schmidt as a "highly capable, trustworthy, and results‑driven leader" and citing specific strengths in aligning the organization with board priorities.
Commissioner Helm moved to award Schmidt a 3.5 percent merit increase; Commissioner Schroeder seconded. The clerk polled the board; the motion carried unanimously, recorded as a 5–0 vote.
Schmidt thanked the board for the feedback and acknowledged areas he would work to improve.
