The Northfield Public School Board voted to approve its 2026–28 Achievement and Integration plan on March 10, a three-year submission intended to reduce academic disparities and support racial and economic integration efforts.
Hope Langston from Instructional Services described required plan components — student achievement goals, teacher equity and effectiveness goals, and a racial and economic integration goal — together with strategies and key performance indicators for each. She said the plan is a continuation of work that began with the district's first grant in 2019 and that annual reporting on the goals will continue.
Langston noted a change in the district's designation this year: "For the first time this year, we are considered a racially isolated district," she said, explaining the state test for the classification is whether the district’s protected-class share is 20 percentage points higher than any adjoining district; Northfield was 20.7 percentage points higher than Randolph under that metric.
The plan carries an anticipated budget of about $354,000. The board moved to approve the plan and adopted it by voice vote; Hillman and staff said administration will proceed with the required next steps for the grant-funded work.
