Instead, council recommended exploring options such as larger ceiling fans to improve ventilation and polishing or sealing floors to address modest grade separations and improve ADA accessibility.
Commissioners welcomed the emphasis on retaining the barn's historic character while making it more usable for community events. One commissioner noted that a sealed and gently finished floor could accommodate activities such as farmers markets or dances while preserving the structure's look if appropriate sealers are chosen.
Staff said public-works and facilities teams will take direction and return with recommendations; no formal vote was taken by the commission on the Ranger Station measures (the city council provided direction to staff).
