Staff member (S3) told the committee that Main Waste Energy has set tipping fees at $88 per ton, above the $70 per ton figure included in the original budget, and that the change would increase projected costs by about $20,250. He said Buckfield’s share of that increase is approximately 65% after accounting for Sumner’s portion; he added matching revenue adjustments to keep the budget balanced.
The committee voted to approve the recommended changes to the solid‑waste expense and revenue lines so staff can present a consistent package to the select board. Staff member (S3) also said updated state/local revenue‑sharing projections allowed him to add $25,000 to the revenue‑sharing line, which helps offset some of the net town impact.
Chair (S2) moved to approve the solid‑waste adjustments and the motion was seconded and carried by the committee. Staff said the solid‑waste expense line and local revenue totals will be updated in the worksheet prior to the select‑board review.
