Treasurer Trisha Hayes reported to the council on Dec. 9 that the town has billed $940,875 in real‑estate taxes and collected $823,675 to date, and that personal property billing stands at $329,790 with $153,960 collected so far.
Hayes also presented mid‑year budget amendments and explained the accounting in one notable grant line item: a grant the town received (around the COVID period) for an ambulance resulted in $226,400 in revenue that must be reflected in the budget. "We did receive $226,400 from the grant," she told the council and explained the budget lines where the revenue and corresponding expenses were entered.
After a brief review and opportunity for questions, the council moved, seconded and approved the budget amendments by voice vote.
The treasurer said the town received an unmodified audit opinion in its recent audit and is acting on auditor recommendations; the amendments were described as reallocations within departments rather than large new expenditures beyond the grant reconciliation.
Council direction recorded in the meeting notes indicates staff will post the amended budget and follow up on auditor suggestions.
