Tazewell council certifies executive session, appoints recreation committee members

Chair (S1) opened the session with a motion to convene executive session, which the council approved. After returning to open session, the council heard a certification resolution read by S1 affirming compliance with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and the Code of Virginia; roll call votes were recorded and certification was announced as complete.
Following the certification, S5 nominated Dustin Spivey and Shane Moore to three-year terms, Eric Shepherd to a two-year term and Amy Childress to a one-year term on the recreation committee. S5 amended the motion to include two additional seats — a council seat and a YMCA representative — and said Mr. Hicks would also serve on the board. S2 seconded the amendment. Chair (S1) called the vote; the motion carried with the council recording 'aye' votes and no recorded opposition.
The council did not take additional formal action on other personnel matters during this session. The meeting concluded after routine business and a motion to adjourn was approved.
