The City of Lake Wales city attorney reported to the commission that the city received a summary final judgment of foreclosure on a parcel and that the property is scheduled for a judicial sale on Feb. 13. According to the attorney, the city expects to obtain title at sale and then convey the property to the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) for development.
"Last week, I got a summary final judgment of foreclosure on a piece of property and for the city. It will go to judicial sale on February 13," the city attorney said. He added that at a recent code board meeting two additional foreclosure actions were approved and that he will proceed with those cases.
The attorney presented the report as an informational update; the transcript records no formal commission vote on the matter. The next steps described by the attorney were administrative: pursue the approved foreclosures and, if the city acquires the property at sale, transfer it to the CRA for development planning.
The report did not name the property, provide parcel or case numbers, or specify the intended redevelopment use or timeline. The city attorney said only that the city ‘will get it and then convey it to the CRA for development purposes.’ The transcript includes no comment from the CRA or staff about a redevelopment plan or timeline.
No additional public comment or deliberation on the foreclosures appears in the transcript. The meeting continued to other agenda items after the attorney’s report.
