Commissioner Gillespie used board‑member comments at the Feb. 10 meeting to say Chair Robin Gibson plans to retire from the commission at the end of his term and suggested expanding the Community Redevelopment Agency board by one seat so Gibson could continue to participate in CRA activities.
Gillespie said Gibson’s experience would be valuable to retain and proposed adding a seat to the CRA board, though he acknowledged he had not yet discussed the idea with the city attorney. Other members noted that changes to board composition are city commission business, not a CRA-only decision, and that the city commission would need to consider and approve any structural change.
Members said the topic could be placed on an upcoming work session agenda; the transcript records that a work session is scheduled soon and that legal research will be prepared if the commission chooses to pursue the idea. No formal action to expand the board was taken at the Feb. 10 meeting.
